About
I am a sociologist and, since the 18th of June 2010, doctor in social geography, Université de Grenoble, France.
Currently, I make a living as a free-lance social scientist, specialized in social aspects of natural hazards management. My work always involves to link research inputs and operationnal issues.
My research (night and week-end job;-)) seek to understand how we do achieve to make sense of the environment in order to ground and coordinate our actions. In this scope, my PhD thesis, about warning processes for flash-floods, lead me to built a new analysis framework to account for actors' real practices in such case, based on the notion of distance.
I guess the papers and presentations you can find on Academia will give you a better idea of my work.
Please contact me if you want more details,
Laurence
